ACTING CLASS

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:

Acting is an introductory course designed to encourage individuals of ALL talent levels to "step out of their comfort zones" in order to develop individual and group performance skills through the art of theatre.

 

SYLLABUS

Acting class is broken into three units:  STAGE, STORY, aaand SCENE!   (See syllabus above for description of each.)

WEEK 1:   February 7-10, 2022          Welcome & "Composition"

WEEK 2:   February 14-18, 2022        Art on Stage

WEEK 3:   February 23-25, 2022        Exploration of Ideas & Artistic Intention / Types of Stages

WEEK 4:   Feb 28-March 4, 2022        Performance / Types of Stages

WEEK 5:   March 7-11, 2022               Believability / Stage Directions / Motivated Movement

WEEK 6:   March 14-18, 2022             Stage Terms / Unit Test Review /  Unit 1 Summative (Test)  (IB:  Knowing/Understanding)    

Unit 2:  STORY

WEEK 7:    March 21-25, 2022              Intro to Story Unit  / The "building blocks" of a good story

WEEK 8:    April 4-8 & 11-12, 2022      Story Performance / Unit 1 Summative Performances (IB: Thinking Creatively) 

WEEK 9:    April 18-22, 2022                Reading a Play / Plot

WEEK 10:  April 25-29, 2022               , Analyze character / How to Physically Portray a Character
