ACTING CLASS

PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:

Acting is an introductory course designed to encourage individuals of ALL talent levels to "step out of their comfort zones" in order to develop individual and group performance skills through the art of theatre.

Acting class is broken into three units:  STAGE, STORY, aaand SCENE!   (See syllabus above for description of each.)

WEEK 2:  February 1-5, 2021          Art on Stage

WEEK 3:  February 8-12, 2021        Exploration of Ideas & Artistic Intention

WEEK 4:  February 15-19, 2021      Performance / Types of Stages

WEEK 5:   February 22-26, 2021     Believability / Stage Directions

WEEK 6:   March 1-5, 2021              Motivated Movement / Stage Terms

WEEK 7:   March 8-12, 2021            Review / Unit 1 Summative Test  (IB:  Knowing/Understanding)      

Unit 2:  STORY

WEEK 8:     March 15-19, 2021       The "building blocks" of a great story

WEEK 9:     March 22-26, 2021       Story Performance / Unit 1 Summative (IB: Thinking Creatively)

WEEK 10:    April 5-9, 2021 (H)       Reading a Play / Plot

WEEK 11:   April 12-16, 2021          Finish reading play / Analyze character

WEEK 12:   April 19-23, 2021          Physically Portraying a Character / Monologues (Rehearsal)

WEEK 13:   April 26-30, 2021          Unit 2 Summative (Monologue) Performance (IB: Developing Skills)
